Kasuri from the Kurume region is especially distinctive, with vertically and horizontally dyed threads woven together to form intricate, complex patterns. The result is a fabric rich in visual depth, offering exceptional comfort that only improves with age.
In 1957, this complex and traditional style was registered as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
